Sacroiliac Joint Pain Relief in Davis, CA

Chiropractic Care That Targets Pelvic Imbalances and Restores Motion

Sacroiliac (SI) joint pain often shows up as a dull, nagging ache near the base of your spine—right where your lower back meets your pelvis. Some people feel it more on one side, some feel it with certain movements like standing up, walking, or rolling over in bed.

It’s one of the most under-recognized causes of low back pain—and fortunately, it responds really well to focused, gentle chiropractic care.

What Is the SI Joint?

You’ve got two SI joints—one on each side—where your sacrum (tailbone) connects to your pelvis. These joints are meant to move just a little, but when they become restricted or unstable, they can cause pain locally and sometimes refer pain into the hips, glutes, or thighs.

You might be dealing with SI joint dysfunction if you’ve noticed:

  • Pain when standing up from a seated position

  • Discomfort when walking, especially uphill or on uneven ground

  • One-sided low back or hip pain

  • A feeling of instability or “locking up” in the low back or pelvis

  • Increased symptoms during pregnancy or postpartum

How We Treat SI Joint Pain

We focus on restoring proper motion to the pelvis and surrounding joints—because when the SI joint is moving well, it usually feels better too.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Precise, targeted adjustments help correct joint restrictions and imbalances in the pelvis, sacrum, and lumbar spine. These adjustments help reduce inflammation, improve motion, and ease pressure on irritated tissues around the SI joint.

Pelvic Blocking

We use gentle pelvic blocks—wedged supports placed under the hips—to encourage natural realignment of the pelvis without force. This technique allows gravity and positioning to do the work, making it especially helpful for patients who are sensitive to manual adjustments or experiencing acute pain.

Soft Tissue Work

Tight muscles around the SI joint—like the piriformis, glutes, and hip flexors—can pull the pelvis out of balance. We use techniques like cupping and scraping to release tension and support more balanced movement.

Flexion-Distraction (as needed)

If your SI joint pain is tied into lower lumbar issues or disc involvement, flexion-distraction may be added to gently decompress the spine and relieve nerve tension.

When to Come In

If your back pain feels one-sided, worse with standing or walking, or like your hips are just out of sync—there’s a good chance your SI joint is involved. We’ll assess how your pelvis is moving and create a plan that actually makes sense for your body.

Let’s Get You Moving Comfortably Again

SI joint dysfunction is common—but very treatable. Whether your pain is new or something you’ve been working around for a while, we’ll help you get to the root of it and start moving in the right direction.
